Nursery Program

Pre-school education in a respected English program based on Montessori methods and Christian concern for all children. Classes Tuesday-Thursday or Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Class size 15 students. Superintendent: Gilma Yamamoto.

From a solid foundation children grow to be confident and competent learners for life.

Saint Alban's Nursery Programme for children aged 2 to 5 was founded in 1978.While the Nursery is an outreach ministry of Saint Alban's Church, the Nursery Programme is nondenominational and we welcome children from all religious backgrounds while encouraging respect and tolerance for all.

Our aim is to provide purposeful and stimulating early childhood activities, to enhance each child's growth and development. We believe that the early years are the most important time for exploration and discovery and that children need opportunities to create, play, make friends and learn while having fun. Our programme offers each child an atmosphere of warmth, understanding and a place to develop, both as an individual and as part of a group.

We offer an extensive range of materials and activities based on the well-established principles of the Montessori method. We introduce the first steps of reading, writing, number work and nature in a simple, creative and enjoyable way. Daily emphasis is placed on the creative arts; there are many opportunities for children to enjoy singing, dancing, storytelling, simple drama and artwork.

We meet each day in a spacious, bright and beautiful hall that is attached to the church. Although the curriculum is structured, each child moves through at his or her own pace.
In addition to our spacious indoor facilities where our comprehensive educational and creative programme takes place, we have a large fenced and safety floored playground in a tranquil setting surrounded by trees, bushes and flowers. The church has ample parking available at the Nursery, making dropping off and picking up your children safe and easy.

THE ACTIVITIES

We offer an extensive range of materials and activities based on the well-established principles of the Montessori Method.

We introduce the first steps of reading, writing, number work and nature in a simple, creative and enjoyable way.

Daily emphasis is placed on the creative arts, providing many opportunities for children to enjoy singing, dancing, storytelling, simple drama and art work.

We meet each day in a spacious, bright and beautiful hall that is attached to the church. Activities are arranged on a low shelf unit within reach of even the smallest child.

Children may work uninterrupted for long periods of time at tables or on the floor where they are naturally comfortable. Although the curriculum is structured, each child moves through it at his or her own pace.

In addition to our spacious indoor facilities where our comprehensive educational and creative programme takes place, we have a large fenced and safety floored outdoor playground in a tranquil setting surrounded by trees, bushes and flowers.

The church has ample parking available at the Nursery making dropping off and picking up your children safe and easy.

OUR PROGRAMME

Saint Alban's Nursery Programme for children aged 2 to 5 was founded in 1978.

While the Nursery is one of the church’s many programs, the Nursery programme is non denominational and we welcome children from all religious backgrounds while encouraging respect and tolerance for all.

Our aim is to provide purposeful and stimulating early childhood activities, which enhance each child’s growth and development. We believe that the early years are the most important time for exploration and discovery; that children need opportunities to create, play, make friends and learn whilst having fun.

Our programme offers each child an atmosphere of warmth, understanding and a place to develop, both as an individual and as a part of a group.

We know that your child is special! When you share that special person with us, you can be confident that he or she will be receiving the very best quality of care and attention.

OUR AIMS

Our programme aims to help children build the foundations for a lifetime of creative learning. Our approach is built around important yet basic principles:

Each child is unique and every effort should be made to help him or her develop to their fullest potential.

The early years from birth to six are vital. Children need every opportunity to strengthen positive attitudes towards themselves and others while learning during these years.

The solid foundation we provide helps them grow to be confident and competent learners for life.
