Is there something deeper than the commonly (mis-)understood references to heaven, hell, and life before- and after death? Fr. Scott will be leading the group on Thursday evenings at 7PM, starting May 24th and continuing through June 28th. If you are interesting in attending or helping facilitate the sessions, please contact Fr. Scott (walker.tko@nskk.org).

While we’re looking for some people to plan and manage the distribution among interested churches in the Diocese of Tokyo and elsewhere in Japan, this is also an opportunity to learn more about the living and ancient liturgy of the Church. Currently we have several applications both from the UK and the US. Our deadline for applications is April 30. The Search Committee is going to meet for a further process, to determine if all of them will be good candidates for a new rector at St. Alban’s. St. Alban’s has become the Japan agent for Prinknash Abbey incense, a very high-quality line of incense made by Benedictine monks at Prinknash Abbey in Gloucestershire, UK. While we’re looking for some people to plan and manage the distribution among interested churches in the Diocese of Tokyo and elsewhere in Japan, this is also an opportunity to learn more about the living and ancient liturgy of the Church. Please contact Fr. Scott for more information (walker.tko@nskk.org) .

Saint Alban’s Nursery Program - Our church offers a respected English pre-school education based on Montessori methods and Christian concern for all children. From a solid foundation children grow to be confident and competent learners for life.

Need for Sunday School Teachers - Do you enjoy working with children? Please consider joining our dwindling staff of committed volunteer Sunday School teachers. Each Sunday we need two teachers–one for the smaller children ages 2-7 and one for the older class of 8-11 year olds. Please tell Nicola, Julie, Betsy, Joan or Father Scott if you can help with this very important ministry.

he Textile Group needs volunteers! - We are beginning some new projects and are really in need of people who can sew, applique, embroider, knit — anything with a needle. You do not have to be an expert either! There are a number of easier tasks and we can also use people who can help or direct. And, who knows, you may even improve your skills while helping the church with something that is greatly needed. Please contact Mary Hager for more information (hagermmh@aol.com or 080 4477 2713).
Results of Parish Survey - Thank you all for participating in St. Alban’s Parish Survey during February 19 and 26. We received 93 complete surveys. The Search Committee carefully collected the valued information you provided and prepared a report, which was approved by the Vestry. The report describes St. Alban’s current congregation, who we are, and the extent to which are we diversified. We believe it tells the true character of St. Alban’s. The Search Committee celebrates the results and would like to extend our gratitude to you for sharing your information and thoughts on St. Alban’s. The patterns are very simple - for knit or crochet - and you largely work on your own at your own pace. The next meetings are March 21, at the home of Joyce Knight (near Roppongi Itchome) and April 24 at the home of Lynn Evans (near Hiroo). If you are interested please call or email Joyce at 080-3086-1833 or crktoaz@aol.com.

Saint Alban’s Nursery Program - Our church offers a respected English pre-school education based on Montessori methods and Christian concern for all children. For information regarding enrollment, specific dates, costs and other information please contact Mrs. Gilma Yamamoto at gilma.yam@gol.com or call her at (03) 3431-8534. From a solid foundation children grow to be confident and competent learners for life.

We are looking forward to seeing you - at the next meeting of the Saint Alban’s Book Group at 7:00 pm on Friday, 30th of March. This month we are reading "The Exile" by Pearl Buck. Please e-mail Morena Christian for the address: morena.christian@kist.ed.jp

Baptism – Following the custom of the ancient Church, the sacrament of Holy Baptism will be administered during the Great Vigil of Easter on April 7th. Please contact the church office, if you are interested in being baptized or in having your child baptized (stalbans@saintalbans.jp). The next opportunity to receive Holy Baptism will be on Pentecost Sunday, May 27th.

Easter Celebration Lunch - Let’s celebrate this greatest feast of the Christian year together with a culinary pot-luck feast as well! Everyone who is able is encouraged to bring a dish to share, and volunteers are needed to set up tables and chairs, etc. In order to plan properly, we need to know whether you are planning to join, so please contact John Owens to sign up for this event.

Need for Sunday School Teachers - Do you enjoy working with children? Please consider joining our dwindling staff of committed volunteer Sunday School teachers. Each Sunday we need two teachers–one for the smaller children ages 2-7 and one for the older class of 8-11 year olds. We are down to a core group of four teachers, all of whom have family and work demands to balance with this important work. Please tell Nicola, Julie, Betsy, Joan or Father Scott if you can help with this very important ministry.

The Textile Group needs volunteers! We really need you!

Lenten Bible study groups -3 groups have been formed for two different studies:
✠	“40 Days of Purpose” based on Pastor Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life, a guidebook for spiritual growth and living out our true purpose. From Ephesians 1:11 (The Message translation): “It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ…he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.”. About 10 copies of the book are available for purchase at the Welcome Table, or you can get a copy through your favorite bookstore.
	Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Please contact David Badger (Dhbadger@aol.com) or Kevin Airey (Kevin_Airey@mylan.co.uk) for more information.
	Sundays at 9:15 a.m. “Family friendly” group in Meeting Room 1 at the church. Please contact Betsy Matsunaga (betsy_matsunaga@yahoo.co.jp) or Nicola Sawaki (nicky.nicola@r2.dion.ne.jp) for more information.
✠	“Surprised by Hope” by Bishop N.T. Wright. What does all the talk in the New Testament about “resurrection” really mean? How was it understood by the Early Church? Is there something deeper than the commonly (mis-)understood references to heaven, hell, and life before- and after death?
	Fridays at 7 p.m. Location: Shibaura Square Heights 2305, 4-9-35, Shibaura, Minato-ku, Tokyo 108-0023 (access info available at http://wwb-japan.com/access_English.html ); contact James Papatones for more information (wwbjapan@gmail.com)

Masonic parking - The Masonic Lodge has kindly agreed to allow church members to use a limited number of parking spaces on Sunday morning (during church services only) for those with certificates. All current certificates will expire at the end of March, and new certificates will be issued on a need-based priority. Those interested in applying for the new certificates should submit their name, contact information, and reason for applying to the church office (stalbans@saintalbans.jp) by today. Anyone may apply for a parking space; however, priority will be given to 1) people with disabilities 2) families with small children and 3) those traveling from great distances. Please feel free to direct any questions to Colin Chua.

How about having a quiet and meditative day during one Saturday in Lent ! - Jonan Priests’ Council presents the Annual Lenten Meditation.
Date: March 24th ( Saturday ) Time: 10:00-15:00
Place: St.Paul’s Church Address: 2-20-1 Gohongi, Meguro-ku (Yutenji on the Toyoko Line)
Telephone: 03-3710-6031
The Spiritual Leader for the meditation is Fr. There will be a memorial service conducted by the Bishop of Tokyo, The Rt. Rev. Andrew Yoshimichi Ohata .
Date: March 11th (Sunday) Place: St. Andrew’s Church
Time Schedule:	14:00	Meditation
14:30 Holy Communion
Homily: Mr.Isao Uematsu of St.Margaret’s
14:46	Each church rings a bell (at the time when the great earthquake occurred)
Hope many of you will attend this memorial service.
